What exactly is shaving oil?
Shaving oil is a pre-shave oil that is applied before shaving to make wet shaving easier, but also to care for the beard hair and the skin underneath. The essential oils contained in the oil act like a protective film on the skin, moisturising it and protecting it from irritation. The shaving oil ensures a smooth glide of the blade during shaving and thus prevents cuts and razor burn. At the same time, it softens the beard hairs and straightens them, which also makes shaving easier. A beard oil therefore ensures a thorough wet shave.
A big advantage of shaving oil is that you can use it to shave the contours particularly precisely, as it ensures a clear view, unlike classic shaving foam. Especially after cleaning with a beard shampoo, the shaving oil can penetrate deep into the beard hairs and soften them perfectly before shaving. The essential oils contained relax the skin and the beard hairs can therefore be captured more deeply by the blade. The result is super smooth skin without stubble.
How is shaving oil applied correctly?
Ideally, the beard should first be cleaned with a beard shampoo or, if you have little time, with warm water and dried. Then drip two to five drops of shaving oil onto fingers and carefully work the oil into the beard. After massaging the oil into the beard, leave it to work for at least 30 to 60 seconds. Afterwards, you can shave as usual with a razor, a straight razor or a system razor. Then rinse the face thoroughly with cold water. The use of shaving oil alone is ideal when you want to shave the contours or smaller areas where you need a clear view. If you want to shave the entire beard, you can also use a combination of shaving oil and shaving foam. Ultimately, however, personal preferences are the deciding factor. It's best to try out what works best!dambiro
What ingredients should a good shaving oil contain?
Shaving oils with natural ingredients may be a little more expensive, but they are much better for the skin. This is because the natural ingredients are absorbed quickly and support the natural skin environment. Ingredients such as vitamin E, for example, protect the cells and support stressed skin, while menthol refreshes the skin and provides a fresh kick, especially in the morning. Especially for sensitive skin, harmful substances should be avoided. Alcohol and parabens can damage the skin and palm oil is not only bad for the skin but also pollutes the environment.
