The strikingly smelling musk oil is one of the oldest and most expensive fragrances in the world. Taken from the glands of the musk ox, muscon was already known in ancient times and especially in traditional Chinese medicine as an aphrodisiac remedy. It has been proven to increase testosterone levels and is even considered a doping agent. The world-traveling trader Marco Polo, for example, used the aphrodisiac as a means of payment in his day.
