The base coat also ensures that the coloured nail polish holds better and that the nails do not accept the colour of the paint.
The perfect finish is achieved by applying an overcoat, the top coat. This fixes the paint, protects it from scratches and splintering of the paint. In addition, the top coat gives the nails a nice shine. And if the nails look dull after a few days, a new layer of top coat will help to make the nails shine again.
